Calling all indie lovers!

Nintendo is set to launch its new miniature Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) by Christmas 2017.

News of this launch came directly from a Eurogamer source, who has confirmed the information and says that the new mini SNES will be reminiscent of its predecessor in the terms of play style and format.

This new console will be a definitely blast to the past for those who grew up playing the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

This news comes following the discontinuation of the well-loved mini NES Classic Edition that initially outsold Nintendo’s sales expectations in 2016.

The mini NES Classic Edition came equipped just 30 classic titles and was popular despite its lack of overall potential playtime. We can only hope that Nintendo will be better prepared for its next venture with the mini SNES.

This news is no doubt an interesting move for the Nintendo, following the recent launch of the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch.

Will the mini SNES be on your Christmas list this year? Let me know in the comments!

Pokémon GO: Easter Event

I bring eggsciting news for you all today, as Niantic have just launched its Easter event for Pokemon Go!

FYI – The Easter Event will last for only seven days, starting from the 13th of April and sadly ending on the 20th of April.

Naturally, eggs are the main focal point in this Easter event, and eggs equate to walking, so you’d best not be adverse to exercise if you want to make the most of Pokemon Go’s new Easter event.

What to look out for!?

For your hard walking — Players will be rewarded with a greater variety of Pokemon in 2-kilometer eggs, oppose to just Pidgeys and Zubats (Yawn), we may actually have the opportunity to hatch the elusive Togepi.

For those with a sweet tooth — Players will be earning more candy than usual when hatching their Pokemon Easter eggs, giving players the opportunity to rack up rare and hard-to-find candy.

For those who want power — Extra EXP points will be rewarded during the duration of the event. EXP can be gathered by catching Pokemon, hatching eggs and battling gyms, so if you’re wanting to be the very best, this Easter event may be what you’ve been waiting for.

What are you waiting for? Get out and get festive!

Create Your Very Own RPG with RPG Maker FES!

Those, like myself, who cannot get enough of RPG games should be excited for the new Nintendo 3DS title launching this summer, which will give players the opportunity to create their very own RPG titles!

RPG Maker FES enables users to create their own RPG story, and then share their creations with the rest of the world for free.

Players need no programming or game development experience when it comes to creating their own RPG in RPG Maker FES, as it’s said to be simple, even for complete beginners to use.

Players are able to customise a number of RPG elements within the title, from the game’s overall genre, world appearance, main protagonists, weapons, armour, accessories and even the RPG antagonists. There is really nothing players can’t customise in RPG FES Maker.

For now, its looks as if RPG Maker FES will only be available for download via the Nintendo eShop. However, whether or not RPG FES Maker will be a physical title is still a question unanswered.

Despite the title being soon to release, there is still little information about the mechanics of RPG Maker FES. I guess it’s just something we’ll have to figure out come its release this summer.

Those who dream of becoming game developers or those who are RPG fanatics should definitely download themselves a copy of RPG FES Maker. Plus, it’s nice to know that Nintendo is answering our childhood dreams.

Too Good to Be True? Amazon Scammers Exploiting Nintendo Switch Shortages

In my previous blog post, I discussed the issues surrounding the shortages of Nintendo Switch consoles, where, Nintendo has announced to push its production from 2 million to 10 million consoles to help temporarily solve supply issues.

However, time-scales have not been set for when we should expect to see retailers carrying the Switch. Therefore, frustrated fans are utilising every avenue to try and get their hands on the elusive console and some get lucky, however, a few are falling victim to the hands of scammers exploiting the Switch shortage.

So, how would you know if an Amazon listing is a scam?

It’s getting harder and harder to detect what is genuine and what is not now-a-days, given the sophisticated nature of scammers who operate on the web. However, there are some tell-tell signs which may give away that a listing is fishy.

  • Nintendo Switch consoles listed by third-party sellers who have little to no reviews are often a sign that the listing is a scam.
  • Price offerings that seem too good to be true e.g. the sale price being 10% or more off of the proposed retail price, is often a sign that the listing is a fake.
  • Higher than normal costs. Due to the scarcity of the Nintendo Switch, scammers are confident that desperate fans will pay more than the consoles worth, in the fear of losing out to other buyers.
  • Long shipping estimates. Another thing to look out for is the expected shipping dates. Long shipping dates stall the buyer from filing a complaint and requesting their money back, giving scammers time to pack up shop and flee with your cash.

Now, let’s put our new knowledge to the test!

Can you spot any listings that may be the work of scammers?

I can.

Bought a Nintendo Switch from an ungenuine Amazon seller? Worry not as Amazon guarantees purchases of anything on the site (even products from third-party sellers), so those who fall victim to scammers are likely to receive their money back in full. However, if the targeted seller has deactivated their account, the refund process can be a lengthy one.

Amazon will likely hold funds until appropriate paperwork is filled out prior to receiving your money back. Those who do not have £299+ lying around will inevitably be financially hurt the most in this situation.
